‘BJP defaming CM Mohan Yadav’: Akhilesh Yadav on Ujjain land deals

Lucknow, June 23 (IANS) Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has hatched a “conspiracy to defame” Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav after the latter’s family was allegedly linked to land deals in Ujjain.

Akhilesh Yadav’s reaction comes following a media report which claimed that members of the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister’s family acquired multiple acres of land in Ujjain, and those would reportedly benefit from the upcoming infrastructural projects.

Addressing reporters at an event, the SP chief said: “The BJP has hatched a conspiracy to defame Mohan Yadav. It is not a new thing that he has bought land. Earlier he (Mohan Yadav) was involved in the real estate business. Did the BJP not know this?”

“These allegations are now being made because the BJP is finding ways to remove three Chief Ministers,” he claimed.

“This (land deals) must have been known earlier as well when the registry of the lands was carried out. Can anyone buy land without registry?”

“So, the government knew all this beforehand. They want to remove him (Mohan Yadav) as Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. Also, they (BJP) want to remove Rajasthan CM (Bhajanlal Sharma) as well,” he added.

Referring to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, he said: “These two Chief Ministers are being removed because they want to remove the UP CM. All this is a conspiracy to remove them.”

“It is being done to defame Mohan Yadav and is a plan to remove the current UP CM,” the SP chief reiterated.

Meanwhile, Congress leaders demanded a judicial investigation into the land deals in Ujjain.

Terming the allegation as a “huge stain on the face of Madhya Pradesh”, State Congress President Jitu Patwari said: “The kind of reports that have come today, the Chief Minister is completely in the dock. He should answer to the 8 crore people of the state and to the country.”

Seeking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s intervention in the matter, he said: “A sitting judge of the Supreme Court should conduct an investigation into the matter.”
