An emergency warning has been issued for two bushfires burning in the towns of Abermain and Neath, in the NSW Hunter Valley.
An earlier watch and act warning was upgraded at 2.58pm, with two separate fires burning in the area.
One fire is burning to the north of Carrs Road in Neath and is heading south-east.
The other is burning near Forbes Street in Abermain, moving towards Charles Street.
“Firefighters are currently on scene working to control the fires with assistance from water dropping aircraft,” the RFS warning read.
“Residents in the areas of Charles Street, York Street, Ridley Street and Carrs Road are advised to seek shelter as the fire front arrives.”
Cessnock Road is closed in both directions between Forbes Street and Duffie Drive.
