New Delhi, Sep 3 (IANS) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a charge sheet in a Special Court here against a builder company and its officials for cheating home buyers who invested in “Casa Royale” project at Plot No. GH-10 in Greater Noida’s Sector-1, an official said on Thursday.

The chargesheet was filed before the Special CBI Judge at Rouse Avenue District Courts in connection with large-scale cheating of homebuyers and fraudulent activities of Earthcon Universal Infratech and its directors, the official said in a statement.

Investigation conducted by the CBI revealed that the accused builder company and its directors, allegedly induced homebuyers/investors through false assurances and fraudulent representations and obtained financial benefits by resorting to illegal and deceptive means.

The CBI unearthed substantial evidence and the chargesheet has been filed before the competent court under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code pertaining to criminal conspiracy, cheating and criminal breach of trust, the statement said.

“The federal probe agency is presently investigating another 30 cases registered pursuant to the directions of the Supreme Court against various builder companies and unknown officials of financial institutions across the country in matters concerning alleged cheating and diversion of funds involving homebuyers,” it added.

The CBI had so far filed 18 chargesheets against Rudra Buildwell Constructions, Dream Procon, Jaypee Infratech, AVJ Developers (India), CHD Developers, Sequel BuildconP, Logix City Developers, Manju J Homes India, Shubhkamna Buildtech, Ninex Developers, Decent Buildwell, Rudra Buildwell Projects, Ithaca Estate, LGCL Urban Homes (India), Saha Infratech, MKHS Housing and Ozone Urbana Infra Developers and their directors and also against the officials of certain banks and financial institutions.

The CBI reiterated its commitment to ensuring accountability in cases involving economic offences, corruption and public fraud, particularly matters adversely impacting the interests of common citizens and homebuyers.
