Jaipur, June 20 (IANS) Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar on Saturday interacted with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and Booth Level Officer (BLO) supervisors at the Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre (JECC) in the city’s Sitapura area of Rajasthan.

Speaking on the occasion, the CEC said that the Election Commission (EC) is steadfast in its commitment to strengthening democratic institutions, adding that the national poll body is continuously working to improve the electoral process and ensure greater efficiency and reliability in election management.

Later, CEC Kumar spoke to the media, where he started his address with a traditional Rajasthani greeting, “Khamma Ghani”.

Speaking on the occasion, the CEC said that every Indian takes pride in being part of the world’s largest democracy, which is also among the most transparent and capable democratic systems globally.

CEC Kumar emphasised that the credibility of India’s electoral system is built on transparency and continuous scrutiny at every stage of the election process.

“Every resident of India feels proud that our country is the world’s largest democracy. It is also one of the most transparent and capable democracies,” he said.

The Chief Election Commissioner noted that transparency in India’s electoral process extends far beyond the preparation of voter lists.

“The entire election process, from electoral rolls to polling and counting, is subject to concurrent audit and scrutiny by political parties, candidates and other stakeholders. Transparency is embedded in every stage of the electoral process,” he said.

Highlighting India’s growing stature in the global democratic community, CEC Kumar said the country’s electoral framework has earned international recognition.

“Looking at the transparency and robustness of the world’s largest democratic organisation, International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) has selected India as its President for 2026. This reflects the confidence the global community has in India’s democratic institutions and electoral processes,” he added.

During the interaction, CEC Kumar said that a detailed dialogue was held on Saturday with BLOs and BLO Supervisors which discussed field-level experiences, challenges and best practices.

“We interacted directly with BLOs and BLO Supervisors. There was an open session of questions and answers. As one election family, we shared our expectations on behalf of Election Commission and listened to their experiences,” he added.

Appreciating the efforts of grassroots election officials, the Chief Election Commissioner said, “The BLOs have done commendable work in strengthening the electoral process via the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). We encouraged them to continue their dedicated efforts and also replied to their queries,” he said and concluded his speech by saying “Jai Bharat, Jai Hind”.

The interaction formed part of the Election Commission’s ongoing outreach and review initiatives aimed at strengthening electoral management and enhancing voter services at the grassroots level.
