Raipur, Jul 12 (IANS) The Chhattisgarh Assembly is poised for a significant five-day Monsoon session starting from Monday, and concluding on July 17, officials said.

With exactly five sittings scheduled over these days, the session is expected to witness robust debates and critical scrutiny of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government’s performance by the Opposition Congress.

The initial four days will primarily focus on Question Hour and essential government financial business, providing legislators an opportunity to seek detailed responses from Ministers on various administrative matters.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma will table major Rural Employment Scheme in the State Assembly on Monday.

The scheme named as “Viksit Bharat-Guarantee Mission for Employment and Livelihood (Rural) VB-G RAM G Scheme, Chhattisgarh”.

The scheme was notified on June 25, 2026, in accordance with the VB-G RAM G Act, 2025.

As many as 1,033 questions have already been submitted by members to the Assembly Secretariat, covering a wide range of departments and reflecting the high level of engagement anticipated during the proceedings.

The session will culminate on July 17 with the last two-and-a-half hours dedicated to private members’ resolutions and Bills, offering non-government lawmakers a platform to raise key issues and propose legislative measures.

The Congress has indicated it will aggressively corner the ruling BJP dispensation on several pressing concerns.

Agricultural distress is likely to dominate early discussions, with particular emphasis on the availability of seeds and fertilisers for farmers.

Other major flashpoints expected to generate heat include law and order, illegal sand mining, frequent power cuts, the implementation of smart electricity meters, and the controversial bulldozer action in Nakti village.

Political observers anticipate sharp exchanges as the Congress seeks to highlight governance lapses, while the BJP government will aim to showcase its achievements and defend its policies.

The session comes at a crucial time when issues affecting rural livelihoods and urban infrastructure are high on the public agenda.
