Chhattisgarh: Security forces recover arms, communication gear from Naxal dump in Kanker

Raipur, June 24 (IANS) Security forces have achieved a major success in their anti-Naxal operations with the recovery of weapons and other significant materials from a Naxal dump in the dense jungle-hilly terrain of village Amatola under Chotebethiya police station in Kanker district, officials said on Wednesday.

The joint team comprising District Police, Border Security Force, and Bomb Disposal Squad conducted an intensive search operation in the border areas, maintaining high vigilance to counter Naxal activities.

During the operation, the forces uncovered four Bharmar guns, two wireless sets, one radio, one Naxal uniform, two pouches, one charger, and one battery, along with a cache of Naxal literature and several other related materials.

This recovery marks a substantial blow to Naxal operations in the region, as the seized items point to the presence of active cadres who had been using the remote forested area as a temporary hideout for storing supplies and equipment.

The coordinated search was led by Yogesh Kumar, Assistant Commandant of the BSF, along with Inspector Suman Kanthosu of the same battalion. Their teams worked through challenging hilly and jungle landscapes to locate the dump.

Kanker district, which lies in a Naxal-affected zone along the borders, has seen continuous joint operations aimed at flushing out extremists and restoring normalcy. The police and security personnel have intensified their efforts in recent times, focusing on thorough combing of vulnerable forested pockets to prevent any resurgence of Naxal influence.

Officials believe that such proactive measures not only disrupt the supply lines and logistical support of the Naxals but also boost the confidence of local residents who have long suffered due to the conflict.

This latest recovery is being seen as a morale booster for the security forces and a clear message to Naxal groups that their hideouts are under constant surveillance.

Local administration has appealed to residents to share any suspicious information with the police, strengthening the collective fight against left-wing extremism.
