CM Fadnavis attacks Jantar Mantar protest, calls it a platform for anarchy

Mumbai, June 6 (IANS) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has questioned the intentions behind the protest held at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Saturday by the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’, led by US-returned Abhijeet Dipke.

While the protest has received support from Opposition leaders as well as youth active on social media, Chief Minister Fadnavis said the motives of those participating in the demonstration at Jantar Mantar had been thoroughly exposed. He asserted that such intentions would never succeed and that the agitators had failed to garner public support.

Reacting strongly to the ongoing demonstration, Fadnavis said: “You all must have witnessed the speeches and slogans raised at Jantar Mantar today. One thing has become clear from it — this is not the true expression of India’s youth. Instead, it reflects a mindset aimed at spreading lawlessness. It is now evident that this platform has become an arena for anarchy.”

He further accused the protesters of hypocrisy, stating that they hold the Constitution framed by Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar in their hands, yet reject the very constitutional institutions created by it.

“They talk about uprooting the system established by the Constitution and desire nothing but chaos. This manifestation has exposed their anarchist faces and real motives. Such intentions will never succeed, and they have received absolutely no public backing,” the Chief Minister added.

Earlier, former Chief Minister and Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray chief Uddhav Thackeray warned the government against underestimating the “cockroaches” and said it should not ignore the outcry of young men and women who have taken to the streets.

He was commenting on the protest organised by youth at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi under the leadership of Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of the Cockroach Janata Party, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

“The youth, whom we call the future and the architects of the nation’s destiny, have taken to the streets in the scorching heat, carrying their pain and anxiety about the future. The protest held at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar under the leadership of Abhijeet Dipke received a massive response from the youth.

“The ‘Cockroach’ protest has begun at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. It is entirely wrong to humiliate them by calling them ‘cockroaches’ and denying them justice. The NEET paper leak has ruined the lives of lakhs of young people. All these affected young men and women are expressing their anguish by becoming ‘cockroaches’,” said Thackeray.
