CM Mohan Yadav stresses time-bound solar push, affordable power for all

Bhopal, April 15 (IANS) Stressing strict timelines and faster execution, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday directed officials to accelerate renewable energy schemes, with a clear focus on delivering affordable electricity to both farmers and citizens in the state.

During a review meeting of the New and Renewable Energy Department at his office on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said that achieving energy security requires disciplined implementation and accountability.

“The objective is to provide affordable electricity to all. Departments must fix timelines and ensure that targets are achieved within the stipulated period for faster and effective results,” Chief Minister Yadav said.

He emphasised that expanding solar infrastructure — especially among farmers — will play a key role in reducing power costs and ensuring uninterrupted supply.

He set a target of connecting over two lakh farmers with solar pumps within the current financial year and asked officials to extend full support to beneficiaries.

The Chief Minister also called for scaling up the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana, noting that rooftop solar adoption can ease pressure on the grid while benefiting households.

Highlighting administrative efficiency, the Chief Minister instructed departments to review and enhance annual targets based on demand, ensuring that maximum beneficiaries are covered in the shortest possible time.

CM Yadav further underlined the need to strengthen coordination in key projects, including the proposed 2,000 MW renewable energy park in Morena, and said the state’s interests must remain a priority.

Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister also pointed out that urban local bodies can boost revenues through better waste management and solar initiatives, directing that a training programme be organised in Bhopal to build their capacity.

Officials informed that solar energy projects are being expanded rapidly across the state, with a strong push to increase installations and improve access to reliable, low-cost power.
