CM Rekha Gupta credits outgoing city BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva for Delhi poll win after 27 years

New Delhi, May 28 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday showered praise on the outgoing city BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, crediting his “historic” tenure for the big achievement of bringing back the party to power in the national capital after 27 years.

In a message on X, the Chief Minister said, “The tenure of Shri @Virend_Sachdeva ji as the BJP Delhi State President has been a symbol of unparalleled diligence and tireless hard work.”

“It was under your adept organisational leadership that the BJP achieved a historic victory in Delhi after a long gap of 27 years. Your struggle for the rights of the people of Delhi and your natural style of connecting with every worker with affection will always continue to inspire all of us,” she said.

“On the completion of this historic presidential tenure of yours, I express my deep gratitude. My heartiest best wishes for your bright future,” said CM Rekha Gupta.

Chief Minister Gupta also greeted Union Minister Harsh Malhotra for his role as the new Delhi BJP President.

“Heartiest congratulations and best wishes to the Honorable Union Minister of State and Member of Parliament from East Delhi, Shri Harsh Malhotra Ji, on being appointed as the President of Delhi BJP,” she wrote.

“Your long-term dedication to the organisation, your grassroots work style, and your warm connection with the workers have always been inspiring. I am fully confident that under your leadership, the Delhi BJP organization will become even stronger, and the resolve of the esteemed Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji for a developed India and a developed Delhi will gain new momentum,” said CM Gupta.

Earlier, the national leadership of the BJP announced new party presidents in Haryana, Punjab, Tripura and Delhi. The restructuring of party units in the four states was announced in a notification signed by the BJP national secretary Arun Singh. The new appointments come into force with immediate effect.
