Patna, June 12 (IANS) A pall of gloom descended over the Bihar Police Department after four people, including three Station House Officers (SHOs) posted in Madhepura district, lost their lives in a horrific road accident in Begusarai early Friday morning.

Expressing deep sorrow over the tragedy, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary described the deaths as an irreparable loss for the police fraternity.

In a condolence message posted on social media, the Chief Minister said, “The news of the untimely demise of three Station House Officers and the driver in the horrific road accident in Begusarai is extremely sad and painful. This irreparable loss is a profound shock to the entire police family. I pray to God for the eternal peace of the departed souls and express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families. In this hour of grief, the Bihar government stands with the grieving families.”

The tragic incident occurred when the vehicle carrying the officers collided with a stationary truck, resulting in a devastating crash that claimed the lives of all occupants on the spot. The deceased included three serving SHOs and the vehicle’s driver.

The officers who died in the accident were identified as Sajan Kumar, SHO of Ratwara police station under Udakishunganj subdivision; Amarendra Gyanendra, SHO of Arar police station; and Neeraj Kumar, SHO of Belari police station in Madhepura district. The driver of the vehicle has also been identified as Neeraj Kumar.

According to an official, the impact of the collision was so severe that the vehicle was completely mangled.

Local police and administrative teams rushed to the scene after receiving information about the accident.

The bodies were later recovered and sent for post-mortem examination.

Begusarai Superintendent of Police Manish Kumar confirmed the deaths and stated that a detailed investigation into the circumstances of the accident is currently underway.

“Four people have died in the accident, including three serving SHOs from the Madhepura police force and the driver. Preliminary investigation suggests a collision between the car and a truck,” the SP said.

The sudden death of three police station heads in a single incident has deeply affected the Bihar Police Department.
