Cop killed by unidentified men in Andhra Pradesh’s Kakinada, probe on

Amaravati, May 11 (IANS) A constable was murdered by unidentified men in Kakinada town of Andhra Pradesh, police said on Monday.

The incident occurred in the Gandhi Nagar area of Kakinada late on Sunday night.

According to police, unidentified men attacked Andhra Pradesh Special Police (APSP) constable Nageswara Rao with a knife. They slit his throat, resulting in his death.

Locals told police that some youth who were under the influence of alcohol attacked a man who was walking on the road.

Police rushed to the spot and identified the deceased as an APSP constable. The body was shifted to the Government General Hospital for post-mortem examination.

The police team visited the crime scene and collected clues. Senior police officials also visited the scene.

Police registered a case and took up an investigation. The investigating officials were scanning the CCTV footage in the area.

A police officer said they were working on some clues to identify and arrest the assailants.

Meanwhile, a person drowned, and another went missing in Palnadu district when a boat overturned.

The incident occurred in Kakani village in Narsaraopet mandal when a boat drowned in the tank. The body of one of them was recovered by the locals while the search was on for the other missing person.

The deceased was identified as Pitlabanda Hussain. Rescue workers continued the search for Argraharam Hussain.

According to police, the incident occurred when the two men were putting fish feed into the tank.

Meanwhile, three people were injured in a road accident in neighbouring Telangana. The accident occurred in Nalgonda district when a car rammed into an oil tanker.

According to police, the collision occurred near Veliminedu in Chiryal mandal in Nalgonda district.

Three people travelling in the car were injured, and they were shifted to a nearby hospital.

The oil tanker overturned on the highway, disrupting the movement of vehicles between Vijayawada and Hyderabad.
