Czech Ladies Open: Diksha extends rich vein of form as Indian trio impresses

Beroun (Czech Republic), June 29 (IANS) India’s Diksha Dagar continued to build momentum on the Ladies European Tour with another strong finish, carding a final-round four-under 68 to secure a tied-12th place at the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open, while compatriots Pranavi Urs and Vani Kapoor also produced encouraging performances in Beroun, Czech Republic.

Diksha finished the week at 13-under 203, capping another impressive outing after her tied-third finish at last week’s Dutch Ladies Open. The consistent run underlines the left-hander’s growing confidence as she heads into the next stretch of the European season.

Diksha’s closing round featured five birdies, including a spectacular eagle on the par-five 18th that lifted her into the top 12. Although she began the final day within touching distance of the leaders, a few missed opportunities in the middle of the round prevented a stronger challenge. Nevertheless, another high finish adds valuable points to her LET campaign.

India also drew plenty of positives from Pranavi Urs, who produced one of the finest rounds of the day. Starting on the 10th tee, Pranavi shot a five-under 67, highlighted by a stunning inward nine of six-under 30 that included an eagle and four birdies. Her late surge saw her climb to tied-24th, reflecting the attacking golf that has marked her season.

Vani Kapoor signed off with a one-under 71 to finish tied-49th. Her steady week, following rounds of 68 and 70, offered further encouragement as she continues to regain rhythm on the LET.

The other Indians in the field—Avani Prashanth, Ridhima Dilawari, and Hitaashee Bakshi—missed the cut in the low-scoring tournament.

The title, meanwhile, went to Finland’s Noora Komulainen, who finally captured her maiden Ladies European Tour crown after nearly 14 years on the circuit and in her 199th LET start.

Komulainen began the final round one shot behind the lead but stormed home with four consecutive birdies to card a six-under 66 and finish at 18-under par, joining Australia’s Justice Bosio and Sweden’s Lisa Pettersson in a three-way playoff.

Returning to the par-five 18th, all three players elected to lay up before attacking the green with their third shots. Komulainen produced the decisive approach, knocking her wedge to six feet before calmly converting the birdie putt after Bosio and Pettersson failed to capitalise on their own chances.

Italy’s Anna Zanusso finished fourth at 17-under, while Ecuador’s Daniela Darquea, who celebrated her birthday with a career-best closing 63, claimed fifth place. Bosio nevertheless recorded the best finish of her LET career, while Italy’s Roberta Liti, Austria’s Emma Spitz, New Zealand’s Amelia Garvey, and Slovenia’s Pia Babnik shared sixth place at 15-under.

For India, however, the biggest takeaway was yet another productive week led by Diksha, whose consistency at the highest level continues to make her one of the country’s strongest performers on the Ladies European Tour.
