Delhi BJP chief condemns Kejriwal for giving political colour to ED raids in Punjab

New Delhi, May 9 (IANS) Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva on Saturday condemned AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal for holding a press conference and describing the ED raid on Punjab AAP President and state minister Sanjeev Arora as a political conspiracy.

The Delhi BJP president stated that during the press conference, Kejriwal appeared visibly nervous, clearly indicating that he knows the ED investigation involving Sanjeev Arora could eventually reach him as well, since he appears to be the mastermind behind the entire extortion conspiracy.

Sachdeva said that the way Punjab minister Sanjeev Arora was arrested after an alleged money-laundering raid involving builders mirrors the 10 years of corruption-ridden governance of the AAP, as witnessed earlier in Delhi.

He said during the AAP’s corrupt rule in Delhi, the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and MPs went to jail in connection with the excise policy scam.

The Delhi BJP President added that for the last four years, Punjab has become a centre of loot for Team Arvind Kejriwal.

“Just as the AAP government in Delhi allegedly orchestrated a scam worth thousands of crores in collusion with liquor contractors, a similar game of large-scale corruption is allegedly taking place in Punjab by granting major builders permissions for land-use changes, excessive FAR approvals, and plotting permissions,” said Sachdeva.

He stated that just two days ago, during an ED raid at the premises of a close associate of the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, bundles of cash worth lakhs of rupees were reportedly seen flying in the air.

Sachdeva also said that Sanjeev Arora is not the first Punjab minister to be arrested in corruption cases. Earlier, AAP minister Dr. Sanjeev Singla, Fauja Singh Sirari, and AAP MLA Raman Arora had also been arrested on corruption charges.

During his press conference, Kejriwal said, “As soon as the Bengal elections ended, PM Modi started conducting daily ED raids in Punjab. In the past few years, Modi ji has dealt a heavy blow to Punjab. Punjabis have been harassed in every possible way.”

He said attacks were launched on Punjab’s water, attempts were made to take over Punjab University, funds for rural development were withheld, and now, relentless ED raids have been unleashed.
