New Delhi, May 18 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, on Monday discussed issues related to development and growth with Lieutenant Governor, T.S. Sandhu, a meeting which came amid a major push by the government to promote public transport and undertake measures to check monsoon flooding.

“Hon’ble Chief Minister Smt. @gupta_rekha called on Hon’ble @LtGovDelhi, Sardar @SandhuTaranjitS, @LokNiwasDelhi. Discussions focussed on key issues related to the development and growth of Delhi,” said Lok Niwas in a message on X.

The discussions followed the Chief Minister’s reiteration that if it concerns Delhi’s people, the development work will get done.

She also announced Rs 150 crore for Dwarka’s development, alongside the Rs 6,200 crore Metro expansion project from Kirti Nagar to Palam.

Earlier on Monday, Chief Minister Gupta participated in the ‘Metro Monday’ initiative launched under the ‘Mera Bharat, Mera Yogdan’ public campaign, conveying the message of public transport usage, fuel conservation and responsible citizen participation.

Following the Chief Minister’s appeal, all Ministers of the Delhi Government and senior government officials also used Metro Rail and buses of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) to commute to their offices.

The Chief Minister began her day with a message of public participation. She walked from her residence at Raj Niwas Marg in Civil Lines, to Lok Niwas closeby, to attend a meeting chaired by the Lieutenant Governor.

Thereafter, the Chief Minister travelled by electric car to Kashmere Gate Metro Station and used Delhi Metro services from there to ITO Metro Station. After reaching ITO Metro Station, the Chief Minister used the feeder bus service to travel to her office at the Delhi Secretariat.

Cabinet Ministers in the Delhi Government, Parvesh Verma and Ravinder Indraj were also present with the Chief Minister during the journey.

The Chief Minister said that the ‘Mera Bharat, Mera Yogdan’ campaign is not merely a government initiative, but a movement for public participation. Its objective is to convey to every citizen that even a small effort made in national interest plays a significant role in strengthening the country’s energy security, environmental protection and economic balance.
