New Delhi, June 18 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday inaugurated a ‘Jan Kalyan Shivir’ (Public Welfare Camp) at the MCD Community Hall in Sandesh Vihar in national capital’s Shalimar Bagh, announcing plans to hold similar camps at 42 locations across the city till June 20.

The Shalimar Bagh camp, organised with the spirit of ’12 Years of Trust, Development and Public Welfare’, was held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., a statement said.

Chief Minister Gupta said the objective of the 42 camps would be to provide citizens access to various welfare schemes and services of both the Central government and the Delhi government at a single location.

Tri Nagar legislator Tilak Ram Gupta and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion of the opening of the Shalimar Bagh camp.

The Chief Minister said that earlier, people in Delhi had to visit different offices to avail themselves of the benefits of various schemes.

Many facilities remained unavailable to Delhi residents for years.

“With the double-engine government and a triple-engine system dedicated to public service, the state government is now reaching people at their doorstep and addressing their concerns with the resolve of ‘Service, Convenience and Solutions’,” Chief Minister Gupta added.

She said the camps have been organised to ensure that the benefits of the Central government’s 12-year public welfare journey under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Delhi government’s efforts over the past year reach citizens directly.

“Eligible beneficiaries can now access information, assistance and registration facilities for various schemes from different departments at one place. Citizens can visit any of the 42 camp locations across Delhi during the three-day programme with the required documents and avail themselves of the benefits of various schemes,” a statement said.

At these camps, separate counters are set up by different departments, including the Delhi Jal Board and the House Tax Department, to provide prompt assistance without inconvenience.

The Chief Minister said that as India moves forward with the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ under the Prime Minister’s leadership, Delhi is also progressing towards becoming a ‘Viksit Delhi’.

“The government’s effort is to ensure that no eligible person is deprived of the benefits of any scheme and that government services reach the last person in the queue,” she added.

Chief Minister Gupta appealed to the Delhi residents to visit their nearest Jan Kalyan Shivir, obtain information about the various schemes of the Central and Delhi governments, and avail the benefits.

The camps provide access to a wide range of welfare schemes and services under one roof. These include services related to Pink Cards, Ration Cards, e-Shram Cards, Jan Dhan Accounts, the Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana and the PM-UDAY Scheme.

Facilities are also available for the Prime Minister SVANidhi Scheme, Aadhaar registration, ‘Talent Hunt – Hauslon Ki Udaan’, the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana, House Tax-related services, information on solar power under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, and loan facilities for MSMEs and industries.

“Saplings are also being distributed under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign. In addition, information and assistance are being provided for scholarships, higher education support and caste certificates for members of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes,” the statement added.
