New Delhi, June 14 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday led the ‘Maa Yamuna Riverbank Cleanliness Drive’ at Yamuna Ghat, as the government and BJP workers carried out a large-scale cleanliness campaign across multiple ghats along the Yamuna River.

The drive saw participation from thousands of volunteers from various organisations, BJP workers, ministers and party leaders, who joined hands to clean riverbank areas under the ongoing initiative.

CM Rekha Gupta said, “Today, thousands of volunteers from various organisations participated in ‘shramdaan’ here. All our Bharatiya Janata Party workers also took part in the cleanliness drive and contributed through ‘shramdaan’. From as early as 6 a.m., continuous work has been underway for the cleaning of the Yamuna…”

Union Minister of State and Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra also participated in the cleanliness drive at Yamuna Ghat, while Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma joined the campaign at ITO Ghat.

Harsh Malhotra informed, “The Bharatiya Janata Party and the Delhi government under CM Rekha Gupta have taken up this responsibility, and today many voluntary organisations across Delhi are engaged in cleaning the Yamuna at 28 different points.”

BJP MP Swati Maliwal participated in the drive at Kalindi Kunj, and BJP MP Yogender Chandoliya also took part in the cleanliness initiative.

“Today, under the leadership of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the entire Cabinet, all seven Delhi MPs, BJP MLAs, municipal councillors, and thousands of party workers, led by Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra, have joined the Yamuna cleanliness campaign,” Chandoliya said.

BJP MLA Harish Khurana said, “We are celebrating ‘Seva Pakhwada’ on the completion of 12 years of Prime Minister Modi in office. In view of that, all the workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party across Delhi, from different districts, have come to the field, descended into the Yamuna, and come to perform ‘shramdaan’ by cleaning different ghats…”

Swati Maliwal, while participating in the drive, said, “Today, many social institutions and the entire BJP family have come together at the Yamuna to participate in the cleanliness drive. We are all working collectively, and this campaign will continue for several hours. We aim to ensure that the Yamuna riverbank is completely clean…”

Additionally, BJP leader Virendra Sachdeva said, “The Yamuna cleanliness drive has been undertaken by the Bharatiya Janata Party in Delhi. Today, BJP workers are running Swachhata Abhiyan at all riverbanks across Delhi…”

BJP MLA Umang Bajaj said, “Today BJP workers across Delhi are engaged in a cleanliness drive in service of the Yamuna. As you are aware, 12 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public service have been completed. To mark the occasion, party workers are cleaning the Yamuna ghats across Delhi, as you can see”

The large-scale campaign saw coordinated cleaning efforts across multiple locations including Yamuna Ghat, ITO Ghat and Kalindi Kunj, with participants engaging in shramdaan as part of the riverbank sanitation initiative.
