New Delhi, April 9 (IANS) Delhi Minister for Social Welfare and SC/ST/OBC Welfare Ravinder Indraj Singh announced a series of programmes from Friday till April 14 as part of celebrations to mark the 136th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar.

He invited all citizens to participate, stating that this year Baba Saheb’s birth anniversary will be celebrated in Delhi in a grand and enthusiastic manner, a statement said on Thursday.

Ravinder Indraj Singh said a major highlight will be the “Bhim Jyoti Utsav” to be organised near India Gate, in the Kasturba Gandhi Marg area, where rich literature related to Baba Saheb and important aspects of his life will be displayed through a special gallery.

He informed that visitors will get an opportunity to explore and understand various aspects of Baba Saheb’s life, thoughts and struggles.

In addition, several folk-cultural programmes, performances and diverse activities will be organised to take his ideas to the masses, he said.

Ravinder Indraj Singh said that the platform will reflect the spirit of national harmony. Saints, social workers, intellectuals and individuals working towards unity and social cohesion from across the country will participate in the event.

He emphasised that Baba Saheb’s core message was “Nation First” and that he always prioritised national interest.

He stated that this mega festival, to be organised from April 10 to April 14, will serve as a true tribute to Baba Saheb. He urged the public to participate in large numbers and become part of this historic celebration.

The Minister added that while different opinions may arise on various issues from time to time, the nation remains united in its respect for Baba Saheb and his ideals. This event will symbolise that unity and harmony.

He also informed that under “Bhim Jyoti Utsav – 2026”, large-scale programmes will be organised across various locations in the capital, ensuring participation from all sections of society.

This event is not just a celebration but a powerful campaign to spread Baba Saheb’s thoughts, the core values of the Constitution and the message of social harmony.

The programme series will include floral tributes, public participation activities, the “Constitution Fest”, exhibitions, awareness campaigns, cultural performances, walkathons, interactive sessions, workshops, quiz competitions and art exhibitions. These activities aim to educate youth and students about the Constitution, their rights and duties.
