New Delhi, April 14 (IANS) Delhi Lieutenant Governor (L-G) T.S. Sandhu on Tuesday joined Baisakhi celebrations, calling for mentoring the youth for preserving our rich cultural legacy.

In a message on social media platform X, Delhi L-G Sandhu said, “Delighted to join the Annual Baisakhi celebrations organised by the International Punjabi Society at the India International Centre today.”

“Baisakhi is far more than a harvest festival — it is a vibrant celebration of resilience, perseverance, and the indomitable Punjabi spirit of building communities wherever one goes,” he noted.

“From shaping Delhi’s historical fabric to driving its modern-day growth, the contributions of the Punjabi community in trade, industry, and the ethos of selfless ‘sewa’ have been foundational to the identity of our National Capital,” the L-G said.

“As we celebrate our shared heritage, let us renew our commitment to transforming individual success into collective strength — by mentoring our youth, supporting aspiring entrepreneurs, and preserving our rich cultural legacy for generations to come,” he added.

“May the spirit of Baisakhi continue to inspire unity, compassion, and progress in all that we do,” L-G Sandhu said on X.

Earlier on Tuesday, the L-G described the newly inaugurated Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor as a game-changer, hoping that it will serve as an “artery of progress” to enhance the ease of living for millions of National Capital Region (NCR) residents.

In a message on X, T.S. Sandhu said, “The inauguration of the Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor by the Prime Minister @narendramodiJi marks yet another historic milestone in India’s infrastructure journey. This Rs 11,868 crore mega project stands as a powerful testament to his transformative vision, coupled with the dynamic execution led by the Union Minister @nitin_gadkari Ji, bringing world-class connectivity closer to citizens.”

The Delhi L-G noted, “For the residents of Delhi, this expressway is truly a game-changer. It will reduce travel time to Dehradun from nearly 6 hours to just over 2.5 hours. With seamless, signal-free connectivity beginning from key points such as Akshardham, Geeta Colony, and Shastri Park, it promises to significantly decongest city roads while catalysing regional trade, tourism, and economic activity.”
