New Delhi, July 11 (IANS) A proclaimed offender wanted in connection with a Rs 60 lakh cheating case was arrested by the Delhi Police’s IP Estate Police Station from the domestic terminal of Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport following sustained technical surveillance and manual intelligence.

The arrest was made as part of a special drive launched by the Central District Police against proclaimed offenders and absconders. The accused has been identified as Mukesh Kumar (39), a resident of Techzone-4, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

According to the police, a dedicated team comprising Sub-Inspector Gaurav Dalal, Head Constable Lalit, Constable Prakash, and Constable Ramjilal was formed under the supervision of the SHO of IP Estate Police Station and the overall guidance of the ACP, Kamla Market.

The team continuously worked on technical inputs and manual intelligence to trace the accused. Police officials visited his residence several times, but he could not be located. Surveillance was intensified, and information was gathered through secret informers.

On July 10, the police received specific information that Mukesh Kumar was present at the domestic terminal of IGI Airport. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, the police team reached the spot and conducted a raid, successfully apprehending the accused.

During verification, police found that Mukesh Kumar had been declared a proclaimed offender in FIR No. 293/2024, registered under Sections 420, 468, 471, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code at IP Estate Police Station. He was declared a proclaimed offender on July 25, 2025, by the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Preeti at Tis Hazari Courts, Delhi.

Police said the accused had been deliberately evading judicial proceedings to avoid punishment. Further legal action is being taken in accordance with the law.

Earlier in the day, Delhi Police busted a ‘self-staged’ robbery involving Rs 37.5 lakh within 24 hours of the incident, arresting three accused, including two employees of the victim company, and recovering nearly the entire stolen amount.
