Srinagar, May 19 (IANS) Ramping up its crackdown against drug trafficking and narcotics-related activities, the Srinagar Police on Tuesday attached properties of a drug peddler, with its market price running into crores of rupees.

The immovable asset of the drug peddler, in form a residential house measuring seven marlas, was attached by the city police, as part of ‘Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan”.

The house, belonging to notorious peddler Owais Amin Denthoo was attached under the provisions of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, in connection with an FIR lodged at the Parimpora police station.

According to police officials, the property in question was acquired from the proceeds of crime involving drug trafficking.

The attachment of properties comes as part of the sustained efforts of Srinagar Police to dismantle the narcotics ecosystem and curb the growing menace of drug abuse in society.

The Srinagar Police, in a statement, reiterated its commitment towards building a “Drug-Free Srinagar” and also appealed to the people to cooperate with police in sharing information about peddling and trafficking of drugs in their areas.

The police personnel are conducting raids across the Union Territory, stepping up crackdown against drug peddlers and attaching their assets.

In another incident, the Budgam Police attached properties worth Rs 80 lakh of drug trafficker, charged with smuggling of narcotics and drugs.

The Budgam Police attacked residential properties of two drug peddlers last week — one in Chadoora area, valued at Rs 30 lakh, while the other a two-storey residential house worth Rs 50–55 lakh in Hassipora village.

The ‘Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan’ — a transformative 100-day campaign was launched under the supervision of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in April 2026.

The drive also seeks to mobilise youth as “catalysts of change” against substance abuse while promoting a culture of fitness, awareness, and responsible living.
