Jammu, May 24 (IANS) Police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Jammu has said that it has demolished three properties worth Rs 4 crore belonging to a known drug peddler.

Taking to social media platform X, the Jammu Police on Saturday said, “Jammu Headquarters Zone Police in Miran Sahib in joint action with District Administration today demolished 3 properties worth 4 crore belonging to known drug dealer Navjot Singh alias Bablu in Miran Sahib having 15 FIRs pending against him.”

In an interesting twist, this demolition was momentarily stopped by the police in order to retrieve two national flags atop the controversial property.

Officials said police briefly halted a demolition drive in the outskirts of Jammu city on Saturday to remove two tabletop national flags from the building being razed.

“The police officials stopped the demolition for a brief period and ensured that the Tricolour was taken out of the building with due respect before the operation continued.”

“The incident occurred during an ongoing demolition drive against properties belonging to a suspected drug peddler, identified as Bablu, in the Miran Sahib area on the city’s outskirts,” officials added.

A purported video showing a policeman taking out two tabletop national flags from a room during the demolition drive surfaced on social media.

According to officials, the demolition team, led by Sub-Inspector Rinku Sharma, paused the operation and sent a policeman inside the building to retrieve the national flags before resuming the drive.

In another anti-drug campaign, police in Srinagar district said on Saturday that it has attached property worth Rs 5 crore belonging to drug peddlers in Srinagar and adjoining areas.

The attachment by Srinagar police is so far the biggest such attachment of properties belonging to drug peddlers since the ongoing 100-day long “Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan” was inaugurated by the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on April 6.
