New Delhi, June 14 (IANS) In a step towards strengthening public transport connectivity and improving commuter convenience, the Delhi government on Sunday commenced operations of Route No 740C between Dichaon Kalan Depot and Anand Vihar ISBT, an official said.

The new route has been introduced to enhance accessibility for residents of West Delhi and provide seamless connectivity to one of the National Capital Region’s most important transport hubs, he said in a statement.

Reacting to the development, Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Delhi government is continuously working to make public transport more convenient, efficient and citizen-centric.

The newly introduced route has been launched to improve accessibility for residents of several rapidly growing residential colonies and villages in West Delhi, while providing a direct public transport link to one of the National Capital Region’s most important transportation hubs, said the statement.

Route 740C will operate between Dichaon Kalan Depot and Anand Vihar ISBT, passing through key locations including Baprola, Hastsal, Vikas Nagar, Uttam Nagar, Janakpuri, Dhaula Kuan, Central Delhi, ITO and Anand Vihar, it said.

The route has been designed to facilitate smooth and affordable travel for daily commuters, students, working professionals and senior citizens.

Further elaborating on the operational details of the newly launched service, DTC’s Regional Manager (Western Region) said the route will pass through Baprola, Kheri Baba Pul, Vikas Puri Main Road, Uttam Nagar, Janakpuri, Lajwanti Garden, Kirbi Place, Raj Rif Lines, Dhaula Kuan, Talkatora Garden, ITO, Mother Dairy and Balco Apartments before reaching Anand Vihar ISBT.

The Regional Manager said the first bus on the route will commence operations at 6:00 a.m., and subsequent services will be operated at an interval of approximately 45 minutes, ensuring regular and convenient connectivity for residents and daily commuters along the corridor.

The service is expected to particularly benefit residents of Dichaon Kalan, Baprola, Vikas Nagar, Shiv Vihar, Hastsal and adjoining areas by providing improved access to employment centres, educational institutions, healthcare facilities and major interchange points across the city.

A notable feature of the route is its direct connectivity to Anand Vihar ISBT and the Anand Vihar Railway Terminal, which will greatly assist members of the Purvanchal community residing in West Delhi, said the statement.

Thousands of passengers travelling to Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh frequently use these transport facilities, and the new route will provide them with a convenient and economical travel option, it said.

The Delhi government remains committed to expanding and strengthening the public transport network to ensure greater mobility, reduced travel time and improved quality of life for citizens.
