Brisbane, June 8 (Australia India News Newsdesk)

President of the Federation of Indian Communities of Queensland (FICQ) Dr Preethi Suraj was honoured with the Queensland Day Award in recognition of her contributions to community development and cultural inclusion.

The award ceremony, held in Oxley Ward, was organised by the South West Progress Association in partnership with Milton Dick MP, Margie Nightingale MP, and Councillor Charles Strunk.

Accepting the award, Dr Suraj thanked the organisers and said she was “deeply honoured and humbled” to receive the recognition. She credited the support of elected leaders and the local community for encouraging civic engagement and multicultural harmony.

The Queensland Day Awards acknowledge individuals who have made significant efforts in building inclusive, supportive, and active communities. FICQ extended congratulations to Dr Suraj and thanked the dignitaries for recognising the work of multicultural leaders.

The event reflected the growing acknowledgment of Indian-Australian contributions to public and community life in Queensland.
