Brisbane, April 24 (Australia India News Newsdesk)

The foundation stone for the ‘House of India’ has been laid in Springfield, Ipswich, marking a significant milestone for Queensland’s Indian community and the wider multicultural society.

The project, led by the Federation of Indian Communities of Queensland, aims to create a dedicated cultural and community hub that will serve as a centre for cultural, social, and educational activities.

The foundation stone ceremony was held with a multi-faith blessing, reflecting the inclusive spirit of the initiative and the diversity within the Indian community. Community leaders, stakeholders, and members of the public attended the event, describing it as a long-awaited development.

The proposed facility is expected to host cultural programmes, community events, and language classes, while also providing space for community organisations and outreach initiatives.

Organisers said the centre would be open to the broader community, promoting intercultural dialogue and engagement.

The project has received support from the Australian Government, underlining the growing recognition of the Indian community’s contribution to Queensland’s multicultural fabric.

Community representatives noted that the House of India will play an important role in nurturing cultural identity, particularly among younger generations, while also strengthening connections between diverse communities in the region.

Once completed, the centre is expected to emerge as a key hub for cultural exchange and community collaboration in Ipswich and the surrounding areas.
