Hyderabad, April 19 (IANS) At least four persons, including two infants, were killed in two separate road accidents in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on Sunday.

A woman and her four-month-old son died, and her husband was injured when a car in which they were travelling collided with a lorry in Telangana’s Mahabubnagar district.

The accident occurred in Addakula mandal headquarters when the car rammed into the truck parked by the roadside.

The deceased woman was identified as Nandini (26) and her baby as Kannayya. Her husband, Prakash Reddy, was critically injured. He was shifted to the Area Hospital in Wanaparthy.

The victims were residents of Kanchiraopalli village in Wanaparthy district. The family was on its way to the Yadagirigutta temple for ‘darshan’.

Police suspect that the car was being driven at a high speed. Such was the impact of the collision that the car was badly mangled. The woman and her son died on the spot

In another accident in Andhra Pradesh, a man and his four-month-old daughter were killed, and his wife was injured.

The accident occurred when the bike they were riding was hit by a truck at Madanapelle in Annamayya district.

The woman sustained critical injuries and was admitted to a hospital.

Police registered a case and began an investigation.

Meanwhile, 12 people were injured in a bus accident in Andhra Pradesh’s Anakapalli district early Sunday.

A private travel bus travelling from Chennai to Bhubaneswar in Odisha lost control and overturned into a roadside drain on National Highway 16 at Nakkapalli in Anakapalli district.

There were 36 passengers on board the bus at the time of the accident, and 12 passengers suffered minor injuries. Locals rescued the trapped passengers and shifted them to the government hospital at Nakkapalli.

Police suspect the driver dozed off at the wheel, resulting in the accident. Most of the passengers were from Odisha.

Police have registered a case and are investigating.
