Brisbane, June 13 (Australia India News Newsdesk)

The Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) Queensland has expressed its heartfelt condolences following the tragic Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad that claimed the lives of over 240 people.

In a message posted to its official Facebook page, GOPIO Queensland wrote:

“We stand in solidarity with the people of India during this time of profound grief. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and all those impacted by this heartbreaking incident. May the departed souls rest in peace, and may strength and comfort be granted to those mourning this unimaginable loss.”

The devastating crash occurred on June 12, when an Air India flight crashed shortly after take-off from Ahmedabad, killing more than 240 passengers and crew. The incident has sent shockwaves across the Indian diaspora, with many expressing sorrow and support for the families affected.

GOPIO, a non-partisan and secular global organisation, is dedicated to promoting the wellbeing of people of Indian origin around the world. Through its Queensland chapter, the organisation regularly engages with the Indian-Australian community and advocates for humanitarian causes.

As tributes continue to pour in, GOPIO Queensland’s message adds to the chorus of global solidarity and mourning, as communities across continents unite in remembrance of the lives lost in one of the worst air disasters in recent Indian aviation history.
