Consul General Neetu Bhagotia has met with the Trustees and newly appointed Executive Committee of GOPIO Queensland, reaffirming the Consulate’s commitment to supporting one of the state’s most active Indian community organisations.
During the meeting at the Consulate, Bhagotia congratulated the incoming leadership team and conveyed her best wishes for a successful and productive term ahead.
The discussions focused on community engagement, cultural initiatives and the important role GOPIO Queensland continues to play in strengthening connections within the Indian Australian community.
Bhagotia acknowledged the organisation’s longstanding contribution to promoting Indian culture, supporting multiculturalism and fostering community participation across Queensland.
A major focus of the meeting was planning for India Day Fair 2026, widely regarded as one of the flagship celebrations of Indian culture in Queensland. The event attracts large crowds each year and serves as a showcase of India’s rich traditions, arts, cuisine and cultural diversity.
The Consul General assured the GOPIO Queensland leadership of the Consulate’s continued support for the event and welcomed the organisation’s efforts to further strengthen community involvement in the celebrations.
Trustees and Executive Committee members outlined their vision for the coming year, including initiatives aimed at enhancing community outreach and expanding opportunities for cultural and social engagement.
The meeting reflected the close cooperation between the Consulate and community organisations in advancing initiatives that celebrate India’s heritage while contributing to Queensland’s multicultural landscape.
Both sides expressed confidence that continued collaboration would help ensure the success of future programmes, including the highly anticipated India Day Fair 2026.
