Gandhinagar, June 8 (IANS) Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Monday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 12 years in office, describing the period as one marked by “unwavering service, good governance and continuous welfare of the poor”, while highlighting the transformation of Gujarat and India under his leadership.

In a post on social media platform X, CM Patel said the completion of 12 years of Narendra Modi’s tenure as Prime Minister was “a matter of pride” and credited him with giving the country “a new direction” since first assuming office in 2014.

“With the mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’, the beloved Prime Minister has transformed the lives of crores of Indians, and his leadership is now taking the country forward towards the goal of ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047’,” he wrote.

The Chief Minister also underlined PM Modi’s longstanding association with Gujarat, noting his journey from a party worker to Gujarat Chief Minister and then the Prime Minister.

“Gujarat has presented a unique model of development to the world through his constant guidance and blessings,” he said.

Referring to major infrastructure and economic projects in the state, CM Patel said Gujarat’s transformation had been driven by PM Modi’s vision, citing the completion of the Sardar Sarovar Dam project as well as initiatives such as the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project, GIFT City, the emerging semiconductor sector and the development of Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR).

He further pointed to flagship Central government schemes including PM Jan Dhan Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, Ayushman Bharat and Digital India, saying “they had brought significant improvements to the lives of poor and disadvantaged communities”.

CM Patel also highlighted heritage and religious projects, stating that development works at pilgrimage centres such as Somnath and Ambaji, along with initiatives including the Vadnagar Museum and the Lothal Heritage Complex, reflected PM Modi’s emphasis on preserving cultural heritage alongside economic development.

“His tireless hard work and dedication to the nation have always been a source of inspiration for all of us,” CM Patel said, expressing gratitude on behalf of the people of Gujarat for what he described as “historic 12 years of good governance”.

The Chief Minister called on citizens to contribute towards the vision of a developed India by helping build a developed Gujarat.

The remarks come as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies have launched nationwide programmes to mark 12 years of the PM Modi-led government at the Centre, with campaigns and public outreach activities planned across several states.

The BJP has said the initiatives will focus on governance, welfare delivery, infrastructure development and the goal of achieving a developed India by 2047.

The anniversary has also gained additional significance as PM Modi is set to surpass Jawaharlal Nehru’s record as India’s longest-serving continuously elected Prime Minister on June 10.

In recent days, PM Modi has continued to focus on Gujarat, inaugurating and laying foundation stones for development projects worth more than Rs 18,000 crore in the state, spanning infrastructure and public service sectors.
