Ahmedabad, April 1 (IANS) Gujarat has recorded more than 30 lakh MSME registrations under the Udyam system, placing it among the top five states in India, with Ahmedabad and Surat also featuring among the country’s top 10 districts for registrations, according to official data.

The state government said the figures underline Gujarat’s continued position as a leading industrial and entrepreneurial hub.

“Gujarat has secured a place among the top five states in the country in terms of MSME Udyam registrations, demonstrating its strong industrial base,” officials said, adding that over 30 lakh MSME units have been registered so far.

Ahmedabad and Surat have been included among the 10 districts in India with the highest number of Udyam registrations, highlighting their role as key centres for small and medium enterprises.

To support industrial growth and improve competitiveness, the state is implementing the ‘Aatmanirbhar Gujarat Scheme for Assistance to MSMEs-2022’.

Under the scheme, industries are provided capital and interest assistance, reimbursement of net SGST and EPF, support for enterprise resource planning systems, quality and ZED certifications, and technology acquisition and patent registration.

The scheme also includes assistance for participation in industrial exhibitions and support for industrial plots, sheds and rental costs.

Under the direction of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the government said it has continued to extend support to industries despite global economic conditions.

“The state government is committed to supporting industries and ensuring timely financial assistance,” officials said.

Under Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, the administration has been working to expedite the disbursal process.

Since February this year, a total of 5,094 claims from MSME units have been approved.

The government said Rs 2,310.91 crore has been disbursed to MSMEs and other industries over the past two months, providing financial support to the sector.

Officials added that large-scale industries are also being supported under the Aatmanirbhar Gujarat Scheme 2022 and the Industrial Policy 2020 as part of efforts to further strengthen the state’s manufacturing ecosystem.
