Gandhinagar, June 20 (IANS) With the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2026 examination scheduled to be held across the country on Sunday, the Gujarat Police has said on Saturday that it is fully prepared to ensure the examination is conducted in a peaceful and secure environment, with stringent security arrangements covering every stage of the process from question paper movement to answer sheet collection.

Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) Makrand Chauhan said the police department is working in continuous coordination with the Central government, the State Education Department, the National Testing Agency (NTA) and other agencies to ensure smooth conduct of the examination.

“Arrangements have been made so that students are able to reach their examination centres on time using buses, railways or private transport without any disruption,” he added.

According to the IGP, strict security protocols have been put in place for the transportation of question papers to examination centres, distribution to candidates, and the reverse movement of answer sheets after the examination is completed.

“Special attention has been given to maintaining the integrity of the examination process at every stage,” he said.

At examination centres, proper checking of candidates will be conducted to ensure compliance with examination rules, and entry into examination halls will be strictly regulated to maintain punctuality and discipline.

Special instructions have been issued to prevent malpractices, including the use of dummy candidates or any other unfair means.

The Cyber Centre of Excellence will carry out continuous monitoring during the examination to prevent the spread of misleading information, rumours or fake alerts on social media platforms and messaging applications.

Authorities have also strengthened surveillance to ensure that no attempt is made to disrupt the examination process through digital platforms.

Police units across the state have been instructed to manage crowd control outside examination centres, with specific guidelines issued to avoid congestion caused by parents and accompanying persons.

The arrangements are aimed at ensuring smooth movement around centres and preventing unnecessary gatherings.

The NEET-UG 2026 will be conducted in a single shift in pen-and-paper mode, with examination timings from 2 to 5:15 p.m., covering hundreds of cities across India and abroad under NTA supervision.

The examination is one of the country’s largest medical entrance tests, used for admissions to undergraduate medical and dental courses.

Security arrangements across several states have also been intensified in view of past incidents of malpractice concerns, with authorities focusing on secure transport of examination materials, monitoring of sensitive locations near centres, and enhanced coordination between police and examination agencies to maintain exam integrity.

Gujarat Police officials said all law and order preparations have been completed at the state level, and that the examination is expected to be conducted in a transparent, secure and disruption-free manner.
