Valsad, July 17 (IANS) A 22-year-old man wanted in connection with a house-breaking theft case involving nearly Rs 50 lakh in Tamil Nadu has been arrested in Gujarat’s Valsad district following a joint operation by the Tamil Nadu and Gujarat Police, officials said.

The accused, identified as Raj Pawar, a resident of Solsumba in Umargam taluka of Valsad district, was wanted in connection with a case lodged at Kinathukadavu Police Station in Coimbatore district in Tamil Nadu, officials added on Thursday.

The case has been registered under Sections 331(4) and 305(A) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, in connection with a house-breaking theft in which property worth nearly Rs 50 lakh was allegedly stolen.

According to the Valsad police, the arrest was made after Police Sub-Inspector K. Santhana Karuppu of Tamil Nadu Police received information that the wanted accused was present within the jurisdiction of Umargam Police Station.

Acting on the intelligence, Tamil Nadu Police sought assistance from their counterparts in Gujarat.

Umargam Police, who had already been conducting operations to trace the absconding and wanted accused, coordinated with the visiting Tamil Nadu police team and located the suspect.

Raj Pawar was subsequently apprehended in a joint operation.

“The successful operation highlighted inter-state coordination in tracing and arresting the wanted accused. Following his arrest, the accused was taken into custody for further legal proceedings in connection with the Tamil Nadu case,” an official said.

Police records show that Pawar has previously been booked in two cases registered at Umargam Police Station.

Both cases, registered in 2025, relate to offences under Section 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, along with provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.

One case includes Sections 177 and 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act, while the other also invokes Sections 3 and 181 of the Act.
