The Gold Coast has been pelted by up to 50mm of rain in just one hour as storms hit south east Queensland this afternoon.
A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for parts of south east Queensland including the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Maroochydore, Gympie, Harvey Bay and Fraser Island. The thunderstorms are no longer affecting the region as at 2.50pm.
Coombabah has copped the heaviest downpour so far – recording 53mm of rain today – most of which fell during the intense storm just after lunch.
Pacific Pines had 34mm, Little Nerang Dam recorded 28mm, Labrador had 42mm, Biggera Waters had 32mm, Molendinar 16mm, Carrara 10mm, Mudgeeraba 8mm and Numinbah Valley 32mm.
