Canberra, June 21 (Australia India News Newsdesk)
The International Day of Yoga was celebrated on June 21, 2025, at the iconic Old Parliament House in Canberra. Organised by the High Commission of India, the event carried the global theme for this year: “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.”
The yoga session drew participation from senior officials of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), members of the Australian Defence Force, representatives from the diplomatic corps, and members of the Indian and Australian communities.
Addressing the gathering, Indian High Commissioner Gopal Baglay highlighted the growing global importance of yoga as a tool for personal and collective well-being. The event featured guided yoga postures, breathing exercises, and a moment of reflection, all aimed at promoting wellness and harmony.
The celebration reinforced the message of health, balance, and unity, aligning with the broader international observance of Yoga Day initiated by the United Nations in 2015. The High Commission thanked all attendees for their presence and support in marking the occasion, which continues to grow in scale and significance each year in Australia and around the world.
