Sydney, June 22 (Australia India News Newsdesk): The Consulate General of India in Sydney, the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (ICCR), Sydney, and the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, in association with the Indian Australian Association of South Australia (IAASA), celebrated the International Day of Yoga 2026 with a community programme titled “Gentle Yoga for Pain-Free Living.”
Held at the IAASA Hall in Adelaide, the event brought together community members for a morning focused on health, relaxation and wellbeing. Participants took part in gentle yoga practices designed to improve mobility, encourage relaxation and promote ease of movement, reflecting this year’s International Day of Yoga theme of “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”
The session highlighted yoga as an accessible and effective practice for people of all ages, helping participants strengthen both physical and mental wellbeing through simple postures, breathing exercises and mindful movement.
Organisers said the programme fostered calm, connection and collective wellbeing while reinforcing yoga’s universal message of harmony, balance and healthy living. The celebration concluded on a positive note, with participants appreciating the opportunity to come together in the spirit of community and embrace the timeless values of yoga.
