New Delhi, July 14 (IANS) India Post has crossed the Rs 4,000-crore turnover mark in the first quarter of a financial year for the first time, registering its highest-ever Q1 revenue of Rs 4,008.95 crore in FY2026-27, Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia said on Tuesday, describing the achievement as a historic milestone in the Department’s transformation into a modern, citizen-centric and growth-oriented organisation.

Chairing the Quarterly Business Review Meeting of the Department of Posts here, Scindia reviewed the Department’s performance during the April-June quarter and outlined the strategic roadmap for the rest of the financial year.

The meeting was attended by senior officials of the Postal Directorate and Chief Postmasters General from all 23 Postal Circles.

The minister said India Post’s first-quarter turnover grew 22.2 per cent over the corresponding period of FY2025-26, making it the first time in the organisation’s history that quarterly revenue has crossed the Rs 4,000-crore milestone.

Scindia said the strong performance reflects India Post’s transformation into a future-ready organisation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and highlighted the commitment of the postal workforce in delivering efficient, innovative and citizen-centric services across the country.

“The record-breaking performance in the first quarter of FY 2026–27 is not merely a financial milestone, it is a reflection of the trust that millions of citizens place in India Post every day. As we move forward, we remain committed to making India Post a globally competitive, technology-driven and citizen-first organisation,” Scindia added.

The minister reviewed the performance of the Department’s six key business verticals, all of which registered growth during the quarter despite a challenging global environment.

Parcel Services recorded the highest growth among the core business segments at 49.9 per cent, while Mail Services grew 41.9 per cent. International Business expanded 34.3 per cent despite global uncertainties, and Citizen-Centric Services emerged as the fastest-growing vertical with an 85.7 per cent increase.

Postal Life Insurance and Rural Postal Life Insurance registered a combined growth of 20.1 per cent, while the Post Office Savings Bank business grew 9.7 per cent during the quarter.

According to the minister, the broad-based growth across business segments demonstrates the increasing strength of India Post’s diversified business portfolio and its expanding role in providing accessible public services.
