Brisbane, July 10 (Australia India News Newsdesk)

India’s High Commissioner to Australia, Gopal Baglay, has called for a renewed push to realise the full potential of the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, positioning it as a vital pillar for peace and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.

Delivering a talk at the Australian Institute for International Affairs (AIIA) in Brisbane on   July 8, Baglay said, “It’s time to get ambitious and deliver the vision of our leadership for the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.”

He highlighted the growing convergence of interests between the two countries, particularly in ensuring a “peaceful, secure, safe and open Indo-Pacific,” amid a complex global geopolitical landscape.

Emphasising India’s foreign policy, Baglay said it is shaped by a blend of present-day imperatives and civilisational values, which together promote dialogue, inclusivity, and sustainable global partnerships.

The High Commissioner also spoke of India’s ongoing transformation under the ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) initiative, calling it a catalyst for new avenues of collaboration.

The address was attended by scholars, diplomats, students, and Indian community leaders who welcomed the strengthening of bilateral ties.

India and Australia elevated their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2020, expanding cooperation in areas such as defence, education, technology, and climate action. Baglay’s remarks reaffirmed the shared commitment to a stronger, forward-looking partnership in the years ahead.
