Noida, Aug 1 (IANS) Yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Saturday said that insulting Bhagwa (saffron), sants, Lord Ram, or any aspect of Sanatan heritage is highly objectionable and amounts to a heinous offence.

His remarks came in response to an unusual protest staged in Parliament on Friday by Independent MP Pappu Yadav, who arrived dressed in saffron attire and enacted the alleged “theft” of donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Yadav was joined by several Opposition MPs as they sought to press for a discussion on the issue in Parliament.

As part of the symbolic protest, MPs, including Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, were seen placing money into collection boxes, while Yadav symbolically slipped money into his pockets to portray the alleged misappropriation of donations meant for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

The demonstration unfolded in the form of a street play. Opposition MPs acted as devotees and stepped forward to place donations into a collection box. During the performance, Pappu Yadav, portraying a priest, allegedly pocketed the money instead of depositing it in the donation box. An SP MP, acting as a devotee, then confronted him over the symbolic “illegal” act.

Reacting to it, Baba Ramdev told IANS, “Insulting Bhagwa, sants, Bhagwan Ram, or any part of our Sanatan heritage is highly objectionable and a heinous offence.”

When asked about the Cockroach Janata Party protest over the NEET paper leaks and whether such demonstrations should be permitted, Baba Ramdev said that the use of abusive language is not consistent with Indian culture and values.

“Using abusive language is not part of India’s culture or values. We should not make our children abusive; we should make them skilled. They should not become addicts, drug users, runaways, or individuals with destructive mindsets. Instead, they should develop constructive thinking.

“Our approach should not be problem-oriented but solution-oriented. Those in power should remain accountable, and citizens should also fulfil their responsibilities. Creating such a mindset across the country is the responsibility of all elders. Every parent and every responsible member of society should contribute towards building such an environment,” he said.

Baba Ramdev further stated that protests lose their purpose when they descend into anarchy.

“If any movement turns anarchic, it does not bring any meaningful outcome. Instead, once the movement is over, it often creates long-term problems for those involved. Therefore, any form of anarchy in the name of protest should stop. If we have to oppose something, it should be done through democratic and constitutional means while upholding human values. Every movement should aim to achieve a constructive outcome,” he added.
