Jaipur, April 23 (IANS) A one-day training session on house listing and enumeration, marking the first phase of Census-2027, was organised on Thursday by the Directorate of Census Operations, Rajasthan, at the Collectorate Auditorium.

The session was presided over by Director of Census Operations, Rajasthan, and Chief Principal Census Officer Vishnucharan Mallick, in the presence of District Collector and Principal Census Officer Sandesh Nayak. All Census Officers, Sub-Divisional Officers, Charge Census Officers, and Tehsildars of Jaipur district attended the training.

Addressing the participants, the Chief Principal Census Officer emphasised that Sub-Divisional Census Officers, Sub-Divisional Officers, Charge Census Officers, and Tehsildars play a crucial role in the successful execution of house listing and enumeration activities in the first phase of Census-2027.

He described the census as a task of national importance, highlighting that its quality depends on accurately reaching every individual.

He said that the upcoming census will be conducted in a fully digital and modern format, ensuring greater accuracy, transparency, and faster data analysis. Officials were directed to carry out house listing and self-enumeration activities — scheduled from May 1 to May 15, 2026 — with utmost seriousness and dedication. They were also instructed to encourage maximum participation from public representatives and citizens in the self-enumeration process.

Charge Census Officers were asked to ensure necessary arrangements to safeguard supervisors and enumerators from extreme summer conditions. Trainees were directed to closely monitor census activities through the Census Management and Monitoring System (CMMS) portal.

The Chief Principal Census Officer also issued strict instructions for initiating disciplinary action against any official or employee found negligent in performing census duties.

The District Collector instructed officers to organise a three-day training programme for all enumerators and supervisors, emphasising the national significance of the census. He also directed officers to conduct field visits during both the training and operational phases to assess on-ground performance.

Providing an overview, he said that the estimated population under the jurisdiction for Census-2027 is 35.54 lakh.

Census operations will be supervised by 38 Charge Officers, including 20 Tehsildars, two Municipal Council Commissioners, and 16 Executive Officers. House listing and enumeration will be carried out across 5,277 blocks by 4,817 enumerators and 780 supervisors during the period from May 16 to June 14, 2026.

During the session, Joint Director, Directorate of Census Operations (Rajasthan), Puneet Mehrotra, provided detailed guidance on self-enumeration procedures and fieldwork timelines. Also present were District Census Officer and Additional District Collector-III Sanjay Mathur; Joint Director, Department of Statistics, Babulal Meena; along with all Sub-Divisional Officers and Tehsildars.
