Srinagar, July 1 (IANS) The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Wednesday that it has attached the property of former Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) president, Dr Mubeen Ahmed Shah.

The CIK officials said the property of Dr Mubeen Shah was attached as part of an ongoing investigation into a case registered in 2020. Officials said the attachment involved 12 marlas of land situated in Buchwara in Srinagar district.

The action was carried out in connection with FIR No. 07/2020 registered by Police Station CIK after completing the required legal formalities.

A Counter Intelligence Kashmir team executed the attachment proceedings in the presence of the local revenue authorities, who completed the necessary documentation on the spot. Dr Mubeen Shah, a well-known industrialist who headed the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry between 2006 and 2008, has been living in Malaysia with his family since late 2019.

The attachment of the property forms part of the ongoing investigation, with officials maintaining that further legal proceedings in the case will continue in accordance with the law.

The attachment proceedings were carried out in the presence of Naib Tehsildar Shah Mohammad Asif.

The officials, however, did not immediately disclose more details of the case

Dr Mubeen Shah was arrested in 2019 and was later released. He is seen as a separatist, influential Kashmiri businessman who has used his influence to support the separatist campaign in Kashmir.

The family of Mubeen Shah has been an established business family in the Valley. He is currently reportedly dealing in Kashmiri handicrafts in Malaysia. The family had a pioneering automobile business in the Valley, and it was the sole agency of Hindustan Motors in Jammu and Kashmir when no foreign models were allowed to enter the Indian market due to the protectionist industrial policy in the country.
