Srinagar, June 20 (IANS) J&K Waqf Board Chairperson Syed Darakhshan Andrabi said on Saturday that the board will take up the reconstruction of Hazrat Syed Janbaaz Wali shrine in Baramulla town.

Andrabi today visited the revered shrine at Khanpora, Baramulla, and conducted an on-the-spot inspection of the ongoing Heritage Restoration and Conservation Project being executed through the Department of Archives, Archaeology and Museums, J&K.

The visit followed repeated representations from residents and devotees who had expressed serious concern about certain important components left out of the restoration project. The matter had been consistently brought to the Chairperson’s attention, seeking her personal intervention for an amicable and timely resolution.

After a detailed assessment of the site and considering public sentiment, Andrabi announced on the spot that the reconstruction of the Shrine Sanctum, along with all other components left out of the project and essential developmental and conservation works, would be taken up immediately by the J&K Waqf Board.

She assured the public that the works would be executed in a manner that preserves the shrine’s sanctity, heritage value, and religious significance while addressing the aspirations and sentiments of all stakeholders.

The announcement was received with appreciation from devotees and residents, who expressed gratitude for the Chairperson’s prompt intervention and commitment towards safeguarding religious and heritage assets. Many described the decision as a sensitive and people-oriented step aimed at balancing heritage conservation with public expectations.

Earlier in the day, the Chairperson chaired a detailed review meeting at the DC Office, Baramulla, regarding the status and progress of the project. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Syed Altaf Hussain Musvi; Executive Magistrate, J&K Waqf Board, Ishtiyaq Mohiuddin; Executive Engineer, R&B Division Baramulla, Mohammad Younis Shah; Assistant Executive Engineer Mohammad Ather; Assistant Engineer Asif Khaliq; Executive Engineer, J&K Waqf Board, Er.
