New Delhi, May 26 (IANS) Delhi Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu on Tuesday called upon Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav to discuss issues related to the city’s air and water pollution.

He shared information about his meeting with the Union Minister on X. “Called on Hon’ble Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Bhupender Yadav,” said Sandhu on X.

Earlier, Chief Minister Rakha Gupta launched an airport ride-sharing service to reduce vehicular emissions.

She said, “The Delhi government is committed to building a cleaner, greener, and smarter capital through innovative and sustainable mobility solutions.”

“The launch of the ride share service is a major step towards reducing traffic congestion, lowering vehicular emissions, and encouraging citizens to adopt shared and environmentally responsible modes of transport. This initiative reflects our vision of creating a modern, technology-driven, and commuter-friendly transport ecosystem for Delhi,” she added.

In another development, the Delhi government’s Environment Department signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the AIRAWAT Research Foundation of the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in the presence of Chief Minister Gupta.

“The agreement aims to address the challenge of air pollution in an effective and scientific manner. The MoU will remain in force for the next five years,” a statement said.

Through this partnership, air quality management in the national capital will be further strengthened through the use of artificial intelligence (AI), advanced data analytics, hyperlocal monitoring, and scientific decision-support systems.

Chief Minister Gupta said that the partnership would play an important role in ensuring more accurate identification of pollution sources, monitoring of pollution hotspots, improved forecasting systems, and timely interventions.
