Shahdol (Madhya Pradesh), April 26 (IANS) One person was killed and two others were injured in a violent head-on collision between a speeding car and a motorcycle in Madhya Pradesh’s Shahdol district.

The incident occurred at Hardi main road under the Khairha police station area. The victim has been identified as 52-year-old Ramrasile Singh, a resident of Dhamni Kala.

According to police officials, Singh was travelling on a motorcycle with two companions to attend a wedding ceremony on Sunday afternoon. As they proceeded along the main road, a car approaching from the opposite direction at a high rate of speed slammed into their vehicle with immense force. The severity of the impact was such that Ramrasile Singh of Dhamni village died instantly at the scene, while his two co-passengers sustained critical injuries.

The sudden crash caused immediate chaos in the area, drawing a large crowd of nearby residents who rushed to assist.

Locals promptly alerted the authorities, and Khairha Police arrived shortly after to manage the situation. The two injured individuals were quickly transported to a nearby hospital for emergency medical attention, where they currently remain under observation.

Following the preliminary onsite investigation, the police took both the damaged motorcycle and the car involved into custody. A formal case has been registered against the car driver for negligent and high-speed driving. He has been taken into custody.

The body of the deceased was sent for a post-mortem examination before being handed over to his grieving family members for the final rites. While the police continue their investigation into the specific causes of this crash, there is a palpable sense of frustration among the public.

In a separate incident on the Betul-Athner road, a man has been found in an unconscious condition under a bridge.

Police have said, prima facie, some unidentified vehicle might have hit him. He is yet to be identified as he was carrying no identification papers. Police have admitted him to Betul district hospital. He has injuries to the head and other parts of the body.
