New Delhi, June 5 (IANS) Accusing the AAP of indulging in politics over a fire tragedy, the Delhi BJP on Friday condemned the demonstration by former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi at the Gate of a hospital in Saket, where the survivors of the Malviya Nagar inferno are undergoing treatment.
Delhi BJP Spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said that both former CMs from the Aam Aadmi Party, Arvind Kejriwal and Atishi, spend most of their time outside Delhi. While Kejriwal remains occupied with running the Punjab government, Atishi is engaged in political activities in Goa.
“Whenever any incident or accident takes place in Delhi, the two appear a day or two later and indulge in political theatrics simply to make headlines,” he said.
This is precisely what Atishi did on Friday by calling mediapersons to the hospital gate and staging a demonstration, Kapoor said.
The BJP spokesperson stated that Atishi herself has served as Chief Minister and should be aware that visiting and meeting people injured in an accident is the Chief Minister’s administrative responsibility.
As the Leader of Opposition, Atishi does not possess any such official authority to meet the fire victims, said Kapoor, pointing to the restriction imposed by doctors on the AAP leaders from meeting the patients.
He added that it would be better if Atishi refrains from indulging in such petty politics in the future.
Meanwhile, the hospital issued a bulletin stating that 15 patients are currently admitted for treatment. Of these, 13 are international patients.
At present, six patients are on ventilator support. All ventilated patients are stable and showing signs of improvement, the bulletin said.
A total of nine patients are admitted to the ICU and wards, and the overall condition of all these admitted patients remains stable, it said.
On June 3, the day of the fire incident, two more injured international patients were brought to the Emergency Department from another hospital. Both these patients were discharged on the evening of June 4, the bulletin said.
All admitted patients are recovering, and the hospital continues to provide comprehensive medical care and regular monitoring to ensure the best possible outcomes, it said.
