More than 500 members of the Indian community joined celebrations at the Consulate General of India in Melbourne to mark India’s 80th Independence Day.
Consul General of India Anish Rajan unfurled the Tricolour at the Consulate as part of the commemorations.
The programme featured the singing of India’s National Song and National Anthem, along with cultural performances highlighting the country’s rich heritage and traditions.
The celebrations brought together members of the Indian community in Victoria and reflected the spirit of unity in diversity associated with India’s Independence Day.
The gathering also provided an opportunity for the Indian diaspora to celebrate the occasion together and showcase India’s cultural traditions in Melbourne.
