New Delhi, April 13 (IANS) Nadir Godrej is set to retire as Chairman and Managing Director of Godrej Industries on August 13 after a 25-year stint, with the board appointing him as Chairman Emeritus effective August 14.

The transition comes as Nadir Godrej turns 75 in August, marking the end of a long and influential executive career within the Godrej Group.

The board has also conferred the title of Chairman Emeritus on him from August 14, alongside his brother Adi Godrej.

“The Nomination and Remuneration Committee and the Board of Directors of the Company at their respective Meetings held today i.e., April 13, took note of willingness of Nadir Godrej to retire and step down as the “Chairman and Managing Director” of the Company with effect from close of business hours on August 13,” the firm said in its regulatory filing.

“Further, considering the vast contribution of Nadir Godrej to the growth of the Company and the vision and guidance provided by him over several decades, the Nomination and Remuneration Committee and the Board of Directors also approved appointment of Nadir Godrej, as the “Chairman Emeritus” of the Company, with effect from August 14, along with Adi Godrej,” it added.

As part of the leadership reshuffle, Pirojsha Godrej will take over as Chairperson of the board and Chairperson of Godrej Industries Group from August 14.

He has been designated as Chairperson-Designate with immediate effect, signalling a planned and structured succession within the conglomerate.

The board, acting on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, has also approved the appointment of Burjis Godrej as a Non-Executive, Non-Independent Director of the company.

In addition to stepping down from his role at Godrej Industries, Nadir Godrej will also relinquish his positions as Chairperson and Non-Executive Director of Godrej Agrovet and as Chairperson and Director of Astec LifeSciences.

A veteran of Indian industry, Nadir Godrej has played a pivotal role in expanding the group’s presence in animal feed, agricultural inputs and chemicals.

His deep interest in research has led to several patents in agricultural chemicals and surfactants, contributing to innovation within the sector.
