Kota, June 17 (IANS) Several students who had arrived to take part in Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ rally in Rajasthan’s coaching hub of Kota, said that conducting NEET-UG re-examination is not a “permanent solution” for such paper leak incidents and that the system and security need to be further tightened to bring an end to such instances.

Talking to IANS, they, moreover, flagged the impact of paper leaks on the aspirants’ mental as well as physical health.

The NEET-UG 2026 re-examination is scheduled for June 21, following alleged discrepancies in the May 3 exam.

A student who is preparing at the Allen coaching institute to appear for the exam next year, said the NEET-UG re-examination is “not an efficient method and neither a permanent solution”.

“It is just a way to assure us, but not a permanent solution. Such re-examinations will keep on taking place, but for how long? In such a way, students will be emotionally, mentally and physically drained,” she said.

She claimed that breaches take place in other examinations as well. “This is not just about NEET. There are breaches in other exams, too, which are computer-based or OMR-based. There are security breaches, and students face technological issues with the software during computer-based examinations,” she said.

The student complained that there are many such issues which have not yet been acknowledged. “The NEET paper leak became a big issue as the youth raised their voices; that is why it is being conducted again, or else, maybe this too won’t have taken place,” she said.

She added: “The issues, including mental stress, that the aspirants faced this year should not be repeated next year when I will appear for the exam. That is why I have come to join the protest.”

Echoing a similar view, another student at the institute said: “The system needs to be improved because repeated paper leaks affect students’ mental health. They become stressed and demotivated due to these incidents.”

“Security also needs to be tightened further so that such kinds of paper leak incidents are not repeated,” she added.

Moreover, according to a student, the government has not been able to tackle such incidents, and paper leaks are taking place almost every year.

“The sub-inspector exam paper has also leaked a number of times. Despite High Court’s order, no action was taken in that matter. Action has not been taken against those who got the job through fraudulent methods,” she said.

She also added: “We have come here to support the protest in the hope that proper measures will now be taken.”
