New Delhi, June 11 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday presented her vision on the development of the national capital and its role in building ‘Viksit Bharat@2047’ at the 11th meeting of the Governing Council of NITI Aayog, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Chief Minister said that the identity of a developed nation is determined not only by economic or technological development, but also by the capability and productivity of its citizens.

She underlined that Delhi has emerged as a strong engine driving the country’s transformation. The Chief Minister presented before the nation a detailed account of the schemes being implemented by the Delhi Government in the fields of education, healthcare, infrastructure and social welfare.

She stated that her government is making continuous and serious efforts to build a ‘Viksit Delhi’.

She expressed gratitude that PM Modi and the Central government are extending full support in this work. During the meeting, the Chief Minister presented the government’s schemes and achievements one by one.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Gupta conveyed greetings on behalf of the people of Delhi on the completion of PM Modi’s successful and illustrious 12-year tenure.

She said that, irrespective of the political situation, the Central government and the Prime Minister have always stood with Delhi to strengthen it.

As a result, road infrastructure worth nearly Rs 1 lakh crore is being developed in Delhi with Central assistance.

Sharing a major achievement, the Chief Minister said that under the Prime Minister’s guidance, a special coordination team has been formed with neighbouring states. Rising above political differences, the team has already begun working in a planned manner to restore the Yamuna’s uninterrupted flow and address the serious problem of pollution.

The Chief Minister said that the Delhi Government has launched a scheme to provide free bicycles to girl students in government schools in order to reduce the dropout rate in Class 9.

Referring to administrative reforms, she said that e-file systems and complete digitalisation have been implemented across the Delhi government, and new Control and Command Centres have been established, while officials are being continuously trained under Mission Karmayogi.

To promote safety and modernisation in the transport sector, three new automated testing stations are being developed in Delhi for fitness testing of commercial vehicles, she said.

She also said that, with the Centre’s support, the Metro network in Delhi has now reached nearly 500 kilometres and has become larger than those in the rest of the states of the country.

Chief Minister stated that for children and mothers, the government has launched a new and visionary initiative called ‘Samarth’ for the transformation of Anganwadi centres.

The model is based on six major pillars: Creche, Nutrition, Education, Family, Participation and women’s socio-economic empowerment, she said.

To provide market access for products made by women and children, the government is going to launch Mahila Haat Outlets (Rani Haat), which will serve as a permanent marketing platform for products made by women from shelter homes and self-help groups, she said.
