Bhubaneswar, June 10 (IANS) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on becoming the country’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister, describing the milestone as “historic” and “a resounding testament to the unshakeable trust that the people of India have reposed in the leadership of PM Modi”.

Taking to his official X account, CM Majhi wrote, “Your (PM Modi’s) tenure has been defined by an unwavering resolve to serve, a bold and transformative vision, and a tireless dedication to placing India at the forefront of the world.”

“Under your stewardship, India has risen stronger in spirit, more confident in identity, and increasingly influential on the global stage, while never losing sight of the millions whose lives, livelihoods and aspirations form the very soul of this great nation,” the Chief Minister added.

Chief Minister Majhi prayed to Lord Jagannath for Prime Minister Modi’s good health, long life, and enduring strength and perseverance.

He also expressed hope that Prime Minister Modi’s visionary leadership would continue to inspire the nation and guide Bharat towards greater prosperity, global prominence, and collective progress.

PM Modi on Wednesday became India’s longest-serving Prime Minister, marking 12 years at the helm of the Central government.

He surpassed former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s record with 4,399 days in office as an elected Prime Minister of India.

Nehru’s tenure from 1952 onwards is considered for this comparison, as he led an interim government between 1947 and 1952 before the country’s first general elections were held.

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday adopted a resolution lauding Prime Minister Narendra Modi for becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister to serve consecutive terms.

The Cabinet members congratulated the Prime Minister with a standing ovation to honour him on the historic milestone.

Several world leaders also congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister, lauding his visionary leadership and the enduring trust placed in him by the people.
