Bhubaneswar, June 17 (IANS) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday held a high‑level meeting with Singapore High Commissioner to India Simon Wong in Bhubaneswar to discuss the effective implementation of bilateral investment projects and avenues for deeper cooperation between Odisha and Singapore.

The state government described the meeting as a significant step towards translating the growing commercial and technological potential between Odisha and Singapore into tangible outcomes.

During the discussions, the Chief Minister said Singapore’s expertise in urban planning, clean energy, port management and technology would play a vital role in helping Odisha achieve its developmental goals.

Highlighting Odisha’s rapid growth trajectory over the past few years, Majhi said the state had entered a new phase of development and that Singapore, as a natural partner, would play a major role in achieving the targets of Samruddha Odisha 2036 and Viksit Bharat 2047.

The Chief Minister also showcased Odisha’s investor‑friendly ecosystem and assured Singaporean investors of full support through a robust single‑window clearance system and swift decision‑making on proposals.

Referring to the visit of Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam to Odisha in January 2025, Majhi noted that the visit had significantly strengthened cooperation between Odisha and Singapore.

During that visit, eight key Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed across five major departments of the Odisha government.

Emphasising the need for speedy implementation of these agreements, Majhi proposed the establishment of a Structured Engagement Mechanism to ensure the successful execution of Singapore’s investment proposals and partnership initiatives in Odisha.

He also invited Singaporean business delegations to visit Odisha and explore opportunities in sectors such as green energy, urban development and skill enhancement.

Highlighting the recently held Black Swan Summit in Odisha, Majhi said the state had already initiated measures to equip its youth with skills in the fintech and insurtech sectors. He expressed confidence that collaboration with Singapore would further strengthen Odisha’s capabilities in these emerging industries.

Congratulating the Odisha government on completing two successful years in office, Singapore High Commissioner Simon Wong extended his best wishes to the Chief Minister.

He reaffirmed Singapore’s commitment to supporting Odisha’s development journey and expressed optimism about working closely with the state in the years ahead to drive growth and progress.
