Gandhinagar, Sep 10 (IANS) Gujarat Health Minister Praful Pansheriya visited Gandhinagar Civil Hospital on Wednesday night and reviewed the treatment of workers injured after a portion of the under-construction ‘Boski The Empire’ commercial building collapsed in the Kudasan area, with more than 12 people suspected to be trapped under the debris.

At least five injured workers were shifted to the Civil Hospital for treatment following the incident, while rescue teams continued efforts to locate and evacuate those believed to be trapped at the construction site.

Soon after receiving information about the accident, Pansheriya sought an update on the situation and directed the health authorities, including the Gandhinagar Civil Hospital administration, to ensure immediate and comprehensive medical treatment for the injured.

The minister later reached the Civil Hospital and met the injured workers to assess their condition.

He also held discussions with doctors and hospital officials and directed them to ensure that all injured persons receive timely treatment without any difficulty.

Pansheriya also met family members present at the hospital and offered them reassurance.

“Our entire medical team is working to save them, conducting tests such as X-rays and blood tests. If any problems arise later, all specialist doctors—including those for spine-related issues, orthopaedics and surgeries—have been called in,” Pansheriya said.

The Health Minister directed officials to give priority to every person injured in the accident and ensure that no delay or difficulty occurs during treatment.

The department has made arrangements for specialist doctors, nursing staff, medicines and medical equipment at the Civil Hospital.

A local resident at the site said the exact number of workers present when the structure collapsed was not immediately known.

“I do not know about the entire incident, but after the slab collapsed, I received a phone call informing me about it. I do not know how many people were present when it happened, but around seven or eight people were brought here, and I am unsure how many others are still inside,” the local said.

The incident occurred at around 9:15 p.m. when a portion of the structure being erected at the construction site reportedly collapsed.

Police, fire brigade personnel and emergency teams rushed to the site after receiving information about the accident and launched a rescue operation.

Ambulances were also deployed to transport injured workers for medical treatment. The state government said the health department was coordinating with the district administration and other agencies involved in the rescue operation and was monitoring the situation.

Specialist medical teams have been kept ready at the Civil Hospital to provide further treatment to those rescued from the site.
